The EU continues to strengthen its support for Ukraine. The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, stated that Europe is prepared to provide Ukraine with security guarantees.

The answers to these questions can be found in the interview with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, for RBC-Ukraine.

Roberta Metsola emphasized that Europe is ready to offer Ukraine the necessary security guarantees, even if the United States cannot do the same. She highlighted that the EU has already mobilized 48.5 billion euros for military assistance and continues to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.

According to her, a key priority is to enhance the EU's defense capabilities, particularly by integrating the 27 armies of member states for better coordination and improved effectiveness. Over one million ammunition units have already been delivered, 75,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained, and there is consideration of using revenues from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.

Metsola stressed that the situation requires ongoing reassessment, and the EU is ready to expand security guarantees. She noted that Europe must act decisively to strengthen defense cooperation with Ukraine.

"So, we are already taking action, but of course, we must evaluate the situation and be prepared to provide all necessary security guarantees to ensure lasting peace," she emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that European officials are preparing a new substantial funding package for the defense and support of Ukraine. However, the announcement of expenditures has been postponed until after the elections in Germany on February 23, to avoid political disputes before the vote.
