Beijing has warned that U.S. actions will "undermine trust" among Chinese companies.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing Bloomberg.

Comments from the Ministry of Commerce of China came after the announcement of the investment policy "America First," which identifies China among the "adversaries" systematically directing and facilitating investments in American companies and assets "to acquire advanced technologies, intellectual property, and leverage in strategic sectors."

Although President Donald Trump previously hinted at the possibility of reaching an agreement to prevent further escalation of the trade war with China, the positive trade balance of Beijing with Washington, amounting to $295 billion, remains a significant concern for the new American administration.

A representative from the Ministry of Commerce stated that Beijing will closely monitor the actions of the U.S. and take necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests.

Beijing has asserted that Washington's claims that China failed to stop fentanyl trafficking were a "pretext" for laying charges.

In a separate statement on February 23, the Ministry of Commerce indicated that the proposed U.S. restrictive measures against China's maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries harm both others and the U.S. itself. Beijing urged Washington to respect the facts and multilateral rules and to "cease unlawful actions."

Recall that the Trump administration informed Mexican officials that they should impose tariffs on Chinese imports.

The U.S. President indicated the possibility of reaching a new agreement with China, signaling a willingness to prevent a trade confrontation between Washington and Beijing.

Previously, Trump intensified pressure on China by imposing an additional 10% tariff on imports as punishment for allegedly unfair trade practices and the failure to stop the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.
