In Arab countries, there is a historical sentiment towards Palestinians in a broad sense. Therefore, they oppose the relocation from the Gaza Strip.
This was shared by Ilan Zalayat, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies and the Moshe Dayan Center at Tel Aviv University, in a material for RBC-Ukraine "Under Iran's Nose. Why Trump ""will 'pacify' the Middle East and how this will affect the war in Ukraine"
Zalayat expressed doubt regarding the willingness of any country in the Middle East to accept a large number of Palestinians.
According to him, apart from the significant economic burden, for 80 years Arab countries have shaped a position of supporting Palestinians in their quest to assert their rights to Palestine. Therefore, they cannot suddenly change their stance and accept refugees, even if financial compensation is offered.
The idea of relocating Palestinians was rejected by Egypt - a country that shares a border with the Gaza Strip and is considered by President Donald Trump as one of the possible destinations for relocating Palestinians.
Instead, the Egyptian authorities plan to propose an initiative aimed at the comprehensive reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The main goal of this plan is to provide Palestinians the opportunity to "continue their presence on their land in accordance with their legitimate rights." Jordan, a neighboring country to Israel, holds a similar position, supporting the Palestinian people's right to remain on their land, like most states in the region.
Recently, Trump proposed a plan for the temporary relocation of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, which has been severely affected by the war between Israel and Hamas. The Palestinian administration and the Arab League do not approve of this idea.
At the end of January, the President of the United States discussed the relocation plan with the leaders of Egypt and Jordan.
