The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, arrived in Washington on January 18, ahead of his inauguration scheduled for January 20.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing CBS News.
According to the publication, Trump's plane landed at Dulles Airport in the evening before he headed to Trump Sterling golf club for planned evening celebrations and fireworks.
Trump disembarked from the plane around 7:20 PM, and although he did not answer questions from the press, he briefly stopped to wave at reporters and raised his fist in the air twice.
Earlier, Trump, Melania, and their son Barron boarded the plane at 5:13 PM Eastern Time, departing from Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, near Mar-a-Lago. The three of them turned around on the staircase, and Trump waved before entering the aircraft.
"While Trump spends time at his club, the newly elected Vice President JD Vance will attend a reception for cabinet members and host a dinner in Washington," the publication notes.
On Sunday, January 19, the day before his inauguration, Trump is expected to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, followed by a rally at Capital One Arena in Washington. A private dinner will take place after the rally.
On inauguration day, Trump will begin with a traditional prayer service at St. John's Episcopal Church, then head to the White House for a customary tea with Joe Biden and the outgoing First Lady.
Afterwards, Trump will proceed to the Capitol. More than 250,000 guests received tickets to view the inauguration from across the Capitol grounds. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, responsible for planning the event, stated that "the overwhelming majority of ticketed guests will not be able to attend the ceremonies in person."
"Former First Lady Michelle Obama and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will be absent from the inauguration. Neither has explained why they are skipping the ceremony," journalists report.
After Trump takes the oath of office and delivers his inaugural address, there will be a formal farewell to Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
"When the new Republican administration takes office, Trump will head to the Capitol for a signing ceremony to approve some of his first official acts, followed by a lunch in Congress and a review of the U.S. troops," the channel notes.
Additionally, Trump plans to address his supporters again before heading to the White House for a signing ceremony in the Oval Office.
In early November 2024, presidential elections were held in the U.S. Republican Donald Trump emerged victorious in the race. This marks his second presidential term.
It is noteworthy that the inauguration of elected President Donald Trump will take place indoors, rather than outdoors on January 20. The reason is the dangerously low temperatures forecasted for Washington on that day. This decision has been made for the first time since 1985.
