1 марта: праздники и ключевые события дня.

On Saturday, March 1, various holidays are celebrated in Ukraine and around the world. Additionally, several significant events took place on this day in history.

March 1 marks World Horse Day in Ukraine and globally. Horses have played an essential role in the advancement of human civilization. They have been loyal companions in agriculture, transportation, military campaigns, and sports. Even today, in the age of technology, horses remain irreplaceable in many aspects of life – from equestrian sports to therapeutic programs.

March 1 is also recognized as World Day of Awareness on Public Risk Management. This international initiative aims to enhance understanding of the risks that affect society and the ways to manage them effectively. This day serves as a reminder that it is better to prevent a crisis than to deal with its aftermath. Risk management is not only a task for governments but a collective responsibility for all of us.

Furthermore, March 1 is International Wheelchair Day. This special day is dedicated to individuals who use wheelchairs and those working to improve their lives. The first mechanical wheelchair was invented in the 16th century for King Philip II of Spain. Today’s wheelchairs come in various forms, including electric, sports, foldable, and even all-terrain models. This day highlights the importance of equal opportunities and accessibility, making the world more comfortable for everyone.

March 1 is also celebrated as Sleep Day for Children. This international initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of quality sleep for infants and young children. Sleep Day for Children reminds us that good sleep is crucial for healthy development in young ones.

Additionally, March 1 is World Music Therapy Day. This celebration aims to raise awareness about the benefits of music for physical and mental health. It is a scientifically supported method of treatment that uses music to enhance emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. Music therapy is utilized in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, psychological practices, and even to assist people with dementia or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Moreover, March 1 is Zero Discrimination Day. Initiated by the UN and UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS) in 2014, it aims to draw attention to the issue of discrimination in all its forms. People living with HIV face stigma and the need for equal access to treatment. This day reminds us that all individuals have equal rights and deserve respect regardless of their differences.

March 1 also marks Awareness Day for Self-Injury. This international initiative aims to increase awareness about the issue of self-harm (self-injury) and to support those who face this challenge. Self-injury involves intentionally causing physical harm to oneself, unrelated to suicide attempts. It is a widespread issue, with estimates suggesting that up to 20% of adolescents and 5% of adults worldwide have engaged in self-harm at least once in their lives.

Additionally, March 1 is World Information Architecture Day. This global initiative promotes the importance of information architecture (IA) and its role in creating understandable and user-friendly digital environments. Information architecture (IA) involves structuring, organizing, and presenting information for easy access and use. It is applied in web design, app development, libraries, search engines, and even in the architecture of physical spaces.

Furthermore, March 1 is World Civil Defense Day. Initiated by the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) in 1990, it aims to raise awareness about the importance of civil protection and preparedness for emergencies. Civil defense comprises measures designed to protect the population, material assets, and the environment from emergencies.

March 1 is also celebrated as World Compliment Day. This day is dedicated to kind words and sincere praises, aimed at making the world a little more positive. It began in the Netherlands in 2003 and has since gained popularity worldwide. The idea is to give not material gifts, but genuine words of support and appreciation.

Additionally, March 1 is World Immunity Day. Launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2002, it aims to draw attention to the importance of the immune system and disease prevention. Immunity is the body’s ability to defend against infections, viruses, bacteria, and other threats.

Moreover, March 1 is International Open Data Day. It falls on the first Saturday of March. This global initiative promotes the use of open data for the development of society, science, business, and governance. Open data refers to information that is accessible to everyone and can be used, analyzed, and shared without restrictions.

What is the church holiday today?

March 1 in the church calendar is the day of remembrance for Saint Eudocia the Martyr. She was born in Heliopolis, Syria, probably in the mid-first century. Initially, she led a sinful life, but after converting to Christianity, she became a nun and took the name Eudocia. She was known for her deep faith, prayers, and miracles. Due to her holiness and piety, Eudocia attracted many people to Christianity. She endured great suffering for her faith and was martyred during the reign of Emperor Hadrian around 114 AD. She was beheaded, and after her death, she remained an example of a holy life for many believers.
