Monthly cash payments for service to the Motherland: key information you should be aware of.

The Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Donetsk region has clarified the issue of the monthly cash payment for merits before the Motherland.

Individuals with special merits before the Motherland, as well as the families of deceased citizens who had such merits, are entitled to a guaranteed monthly cash payment from the state.

The amount of this assistance depends on the awarded distinction.

The establishment of a monthly cash payment is provided for:

- individuals who directly participated in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and who have been awarded, starting from 2014:

- the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the "Golden Star" — in the amount of three minimum wages set as of January 1 of the calendar year (calculated monthly);

- the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of three degrees — in the amount of two minimum wages set as of January 1 of the calendar year (calculated monthly); 

- the Order of "For Courage" of three degrees — in the amount of the minimum wage set as of January 1 of the calendar year (calculated monthly); 

- the Order of Princess Olga of three degrees — in the amount of the minimum wage set as of January 1 of the calendar year (calculated monthly);

- family members of deceased citizens from the aforementioned groups — in the amount of the minimum wage set as of January 1 of the calendar year.

The monthly cash payment is assigned and paid from the day of the request for its assignment (but not earlier than 01.01.2023).

For individuals entitled to the monthly cash payment from 01.01.2023 and who applied for it by 01.07.2023, this payment is established from 01.01.2023.

The payment is assigned regardless of whether the applicant is registered with the Pension Fund of Ukraine as a pension recipient (monthly lifelong cash maintenance).

The monthly cash payment is established without considering the amount of the assigned pension/monthly lifelong cash maintenance, including beyond the maximum amount established by law. That is, the pension amount assigned to an individual is limited to 10 living minimums for disabled persons, excluding the monthly cash payment.

The payment is established at the amount of the minimum wage for all family members and is divided equally among them.

For individuals who are fully maintained by the state in the relevant institution, the monthly cash payment is provided in full.

For individuals who simultaneously have the right to receive the monthly cash payment and a pension according to the Law of Ukraine "On Pensions for Special Merits before Ukraine" or an increase and/or allowances to the pension or monthly lifelong cash maintenance according to the laws of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection," "On Victims of Nazi Persecution," such payments are made at their choice based on one of the grounds.

Applications for the assignment of the monthly cash payment and necessary documents can be submitted via the web portal of electronic services of the Pension Fund of Ukraine or in person at any service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine regardless of the place of residence, registration, or stay.

The right of citizens to monthly cash assistance for merits before the Motherland is provided for by the Law of Ukraine dated 27.07.2022 No. 2454-IX "On Monthly Cash Payment to Certain Categories of Citizens."

The procedure for the assignment and payment of the monthly cash payment is defined by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 20.01.2023 No. 79.
