Kash Patel has been appointed as the new director of the FBI.

The Senate has endorsed the nomination of Kash Patel for the position of FBI Director.

The U.S. Congress Senate has confirmed 44-year-old Kash Patel as the director of the FBI, according to American media reports. His nomination was supported by 51 Republican senators, while 49 senators voted against it – all 47 Democrats and two Republicans.

During the first presidential term of Donald Trump, Patel held the positions of advisor to the Director of National Intelligence and Chief of Staff to Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. Kash Patel advocated for the cleansing of the organization.

Patel was born in 1980 in the U.S. to Indian immigrant parents. He worked as a public defender in Florida. In 2014, Patel transitioned to the Department of Justice, and in 2017, he was appointed as a senior advisor on counterterrorism in the House Intelligence Committee. He is also a board member of Trump Media Technology Group.

The FBI director is appointed for a 10-year term to protect the bureau from political influence. Patel succeeds Christopher Wray, who was appointed by Donald Trump in 2017 during his first presidential term.
