Private companies will be involved in the production of explosives in Ukraine, receiving financial support in the form of grants. This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology Mikhail Fedorov during the Defence Tech Innovation Forum organized by the Brave1 defense technology cluster, as reported by Public.
According to the Minister, preparatory work has been conducted to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles for manufacturers in this sector.
“Firstly, we have opened the market, allowing the production of gunpowder for the private sector and ammunition. Secondly, we have permitted the import of various components for production. The next step is financial support. Grants are the best approach, and we will launch this very quickly. The President set the task of finding funding six months ago, and it has already been allocated,” said Fedorov.
Additionally, he mentioned that the government has developed a program that will enable private companies producing gunpowder to join the project. One of the main tasks is to safely locate such enterprises, and an additional program is currently being created for this purpose.
When asked where Ukrainian producers could source raw materials, given the global issue of a shortage of substances for explosive production, Fedorov pointed out that entrepreneurs have various technologies for production and know where to obtain what is needed, as well as what additional elements are required in the production chain.
