In the Rivne region, authorities uncovered a commander of a company from one of the military units who had unjustifiably awarded monetary payments, including "combat" pay, to their deputy, who was absent from duty.

According to the State Bureau of Investigations, the deputy commander of the company was at home in Rivne from October 2022 to April 2023, while documents falsely indicated that she was present in the military unit and supposedly on duty.

The company commander ignored the absence of the subordinate, resulting in the unwarranted allocation of over 777,000 hryvnias, particularly additional payments for alleged service in a combat zone.

The military officer has been informed of the suspicion of negligence in service, which led to serious consequences under the conditions of martial law. He faces a prison sentence of up to 8 years.

Searches were conducted at the residence of the deputy commander in Rivne. Measures are being taken to recover the damages inflicted on the state.
