A new air raid alert system has been implemented in Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region. This was announced by the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov.
“A new, differentiated air raid alert system is now operational in Kharkiv. The signals are now clearly separated: one for the city and another for the region,” noted Terekhov.
He explained that the more accurately the threat is identified, the more effectively the economy will function, which in turn will help reduce the psychological and emotional strain on the population.
The mayor of Kharkiv also reported that last year alone, there were 2,113 air raid alerts in the city (equivalent to 156 days living under sirens), but only 455 of these alerts (62 days) were specifically related to the city.
“This system is a step towards greater stability in all areas of life. Businesses, banks, government institutions, and the service sector will operate longer without unnecessary interruptions. Most importantly, when a signal sounds, everyone will understand that the danger is real, and it is necessary to seek shelter immediately,” explained Terekhov.
