In response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Immigration Minister Mark Miller announced that starting January 16, Canada will implement a financial assistance program to support Palestinians arriving in the country.
This initiative aims to help individuals and their families meet basic needs such as food, clothing, and housing as they reunite with relatives in communities across the country.
Eligible candidates will receive a one-time financial payment of $3,000 for each adult and $1,500 for each child under the age of 17.
It is noted that to ensure that current and future arrivals have quick access to these funds, payments will be distributed in phases, starting with individuals who have already arrived in Canada and those who will arrive by March 31, 2025.
Earlier, the U.S. confirmed an agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
