In Indiana, a woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for the murder of her 10-year-old adopted son. She chose to punish the boy for his behavior by sitting on him and holding him in that position for five minutes, which led to the tragic outcome. This was reported by WSMV.
In April 2024, police responded to a call at a home in Valparaiso, Indiana. The dispatcher was informed that the ten-year-old child had suddenly stopped breathing. Authorities attempted to provide first aid to the boy before handing him over to paramedics. However, they were unable to save his life. During the examination of the boy, officers discovered large bruises on his neck and chest.
It later emerged that 48-year-old Jennifer Lee Wilson had become angry with her adopted son Dakota Stevens for attempting to run away from home and going to neighbors asking to be adopted.
She pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, admitting that she had suffocated her adopted son by sitting on his body for about five minutes, resulting in fatal injuries.
The cause of death was determined to be mechanical asphyxia.
Dakota was 147 cm tall and weighed up to 40 kg, while Wilson stands at 150 cm and weighs 154 kg.
