According to the journalist, prices for medications will decrease starting from March 1, although the president's statement sounded quite populist. She explains that, for some reason, Zelensky has only now noticed that drug prices in Ukraine have skyrocketed, while all these years, especially since the onset of the full-scale war, he seemed oblivious. It appears that the only change is the impending elections.

“I believe this is a loud announcement, but in reality, only a few medications will actually become cheaper. However, our officials promise that more than 100 of the most important drugs will decrease by 30%. Well, you know, at least something,” notes Ekaterina Kotenko.

Additionally, she reports that starting March 1, Ukraine will begin to check declarations with family doctors. This means, as the journalist explains, that some Ukrainians may simply lose access to certain free medical services, though there aren’t many, but still, some remain.

“Currently, this is happening as part of an inspection, according to Cabinet Resolution No. 1503. Who is at risk? This includes minors. If a child has received an ID card, their information needs to be updated instead of the birth certificate. Individuals who have changed their documents also need to be considered. Patients who signed a declaration back in 2018, when the tax code was not mandatory, may also be missing from the database. Additionally, those who have not visited a doctor for over 3 years are also at risk. Therefore, to avoid issues accessing medical services, Ukrainians are advised to check the accuracy of their information and update it if necessary,” explains Ekaterina Kotenko.
