The Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv has suffered significant damage as a result of one of the recent missile strikes on January 18. City authorities, including deputy Andriy Vitrenko, are actively involved in recovery efforts.

Kyiv City Council deputy Andriy Vitrenko shared on his Facebook page how the recovery of the Shevchenkivskyi district is progressing after the missile strike.

Thus, the head of the "Servant of the People" faction in the Kyiv City Council, Andriy Vitrenko, along with city council deputies Liliya Pashynna and Yevheniya Kuleba, held a working meeting with residents of the homes affected by the Russian attack on January 18 near the Lukianivska metro station.

The head of the Shevchenkivskyi district administration, Oleksandr Popovtsov, also participated in the meeting. Andriy Vitrenko shared details of the meeting: “We met with local residents to understand their urgent needs and assist in restoring damaged homes. During the meeting, we explained to everyone the necessary procedures for receiving assistance and restoring housing. The powerful blast wave caused significant damage – windows were shattered, roofs were damaged, and in one of the buildings, the elevators stopped working. In total, eight multi-story buildings were affected and require urgent restoration.” Additionally, at the meeting, Kyiv City Council deputies expressed their readiness to allocate additional funds for material assistance as part of the program aimed at addressing socio-economic issues, fulfilling election programs, and responding to voter requests for 2021-2025, to expedite repair work.

During the meeting, representatives of the authorities explained to everyone the necessary procedures for receiving assistance and restoring housing. The deputies expressed their willingness to allocate additional funds for material assistance to speed up repair works.

The Shevchenkivskyi district administration, together with the Global Empowerment Mission Ukraine fund, is already coordinating the process of replacing damaged windows. We also expect the resumption of registries, which will allow the launch of the assistance program under the Recovery initiative.

What has already been done?

• Transport movement in the area of the Lukianivska metro station has been partially restored.

• The station itself is operating normally.

• Inspections of the most affected buildings are being conducted to coordinate recovery efforts.
