The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv has decided on a preventive measure for the recruited traitor from the Security Service of Ukraine, Dmytro Kozyura.
As reported by UNIAN correspondent, prosecutor Mykola Ustavitskyi requested a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to bail.
However, Kozyura's lawyer, Eduard Klimenko, pointed out that his client provided incriminating testimony, is cooperating with the investigation, and does not intend to obstruct it.
Additionally, according to the lawyer, his client is experiencing issues with blood pressure, which requires constant monitoring.
Thus, he requested a preventive measure in the form of house arrest, coinciding with the curfew in Kyiv, from midnight to 5 a.m.
At the same time, the judge ultimately decided to grant the prosecutor's motion, imposing a measure of detention until April 11 inclusive, without the right to bail.
Updated at 14:49. During a conversation with journalists, Kozyura confirmed that he acknowledges his guilt, is willing to cooperate with the investigation, and provide incriminating testimony. According to Kozyura, he had no accomplices in Ukraine and acted independently.
He did not respond to what prompted him to collaborate with the enemy, but noted that he regrets his decision.
Moreover, he did not answer how much money he received. He also did not clarify whether his actions were solely motivated by money or driven by some ideological beliefs.
Kozyura emphasized that he wants to face punishment and is ready to apologize to the people of Ukraine.
Detention of the Traitor within the SBU: What is Known
As reported by UNIAN, on February 12, the SBU announced the exposure and detention of an official within its ranks who was working for the Federal Security Service of Russia. Sources in the security service informed UNIAN that the traitor turned out to be Colonel Dmytro Kozyura, the head of the Anti-Terrorist Center staff at the SBU.
According to SBU information, the traitor had been under investigation by internal security officers for a long time.
The man was restricted from access to truly important data, while the Security Service was feeding the enemy a substantial amount of disinformation through the traitor.
In the materials of the criminal case, 14 large-scale episodes of illegal activity have been documented.
According to the investigation, the traitor was recruited by the FSB in 2018 in Vienna. For a certain period, he was "frozen" by Russian handlers and did not engage in active espionage activities. At the end of December last year, the FSB resumed contact with him.
The detained official has been notified of suspicion under Article 111 (treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
