The head of the National Police, Ivan Vygovsky, revealed that Vyacheslav Zinchenko, accused of murdering linguist Irina Faryon, joined a specific Telegram group in 2022 that promotes a cult of violence and cruelty.

According to him, in 2024 he became a member of another Telegram group linked to a racist and Nazi organization.

"Under the influence of the information published in those groups, he developed a belief in the national discrimination of Ukrainian citizens who speak Russian. Given that Faryon was a linguist and consistently opposed the Russian language, this became his motive for the murder. There is certain information suggesting that Russian special services may be involved, as there were specific correspondences from the accused, but that is the motive," Vygovsky stated in an interview with Ukrainian News.

He mentioned that the weapon was not found, but the police completely tracked where Zinchenko purchased it.

"Considering the evidence base, for the prosecutors and in my opinion - there is enough evidence of his guilt. They are documented and secured. After reviewing the case materials, the mood of the lawyers and the accused changed somewhat. But the final word belongs to the court," the head explained.

He noted that the accused had a cryptocurrency wallet. He added:

"It's not a large amount of money, but we estimated that he spent about 20,000 hryvnias to carry out the murder."

At the same time, Zinchenko did not take any valuables from Faryon.

"I can say that he was well-prepared, well-informed, read a lot of literature, and understood methods of conspiracy... Most likely he prepared himself, but we do not exclude the possibility that Russians could be involved," the head noted.

Vygovsky also shared how the young man "exposed himself."

"We worked step by step. The operational services and criminal analysis provided this result. We identified his walking style, determined movement routes, and temporary living locations. Technology allowed us to track everything," he added.
