Today in Mykolaiv, a blast occurred from an unidentified object, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to eight others.

This was reported by the regional police department. It is stated that around 14:00, an explosion from an unknown object took place on Pohranichna Street, near a dining establishment.

Investigators, forensic experts, explosives specialists, SBU officers, rescuers, and medical personnel are currently working at the scene.

This is not the first explosion in the regional center today. Earlier, around 10:00, a report was received on the special line 102 that an unidentified man detonated an unknown object near the bus station on Bohoyavlensky Avenue and died.

It was determined that a 41-year-old man committed suicide by detonating a grenade. No one else was harmed.

Explosives experts retrieved fragments of an RGD-5 grenade from the scene. During the examination of the deceased's belongings, no other explosive devices were found.

The body will be sent for forensic examination.

A preliminary investigation has been opened under part 1 of Article 115 ("intentional homicide") of the Criminal Code.

Later, a message appeared in the monitoring Telegram channel "Mykolaiv Vanek" stating that an unknown woman approached two men in military uniforms. She was holding a bag that contained an explosive device at the bottom. As a result of the explosion, the woman sustained severe injuries, and her identity will only be established through DNA. It was noted that before the explosion, she had been shopping in a store, and it is possible that she was used as a so-called "mule." In other words, some criminals instructed her to approach the soldiers, and she may not have been aware that she was carrying explosives.
